Privacy Policy
How FreightClause handles your information, written in plain Australian English.
1. Who we are
This policy applies to FreightClause Pty Ltd (ABN 33 805 877 408), based in Brisbane, Queensland (FreightClause, we, us). It covers our website and the FreightClause application. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
2. Information we collect
We collect only what we need to run the service.
- Account information such as your name, email address and workspace details, handled through our authentication provider.
- Contract content you upload, paste or generate, including the agreements and briefs you submit for drafting or review.
- Usage and technical data such as log data, device and browser information, and how you interact with the product.
- Billing information needed to process subscriptions. Card details are handled by our payment processor and are not stored on our servers.
- Communications you send us, including support requests and emails.
3. How we use your information
- To provide, operate and improve drafting, review and the rest of the service.
- To process your contract content and return analysis, drafts and redlines.
- To manage your account, subscription and billing.
- To send service messages such as invites, review notifications and account emails.
- To provide support and to keep the service secure.
- To meet our legal obligations.
4. AI processing of your contracts
FreightClause uses Anthropic's Claude models to draft and analyse contracts. When you submit content for drafting or review, the relevant text is sent to Anthropic's API to generate the output you asked for. Under Anthropic's commercial API terms, your inputs and outputs are not used to train Anthropic's models and are retained only for a short period before deletion. We do not use your contract content to train any model, and we do not sell it or share it for advertising.
5. Who at FreightClause can see your content
Your contracts and drafts are stored only so the app can show them back to you and your workspace. Access to that stored data is heavily restricted: it is limited to a small number of authorised people, and only where it is genuinely necessary to operate or secure the service, or to resolve a support issue you have raised with us. We do not routinely read your contract content, and it is never shared, sold or used outside the storage and processing terms required to run the service for you.
6. Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that help us run FreightClause, under terms that require them to protect it. These currently include Clerk (authentication), Anthropic (AI processing), Stripe (payments), Resend (transactional email), and Cloudflare and Fly.io (hosting and infrastructure). We may also disclose information where required by law.
7. Overseas disclosure
Some of our service providers store or process data outside Australia. Where personal information is disclosed overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with the APPs.
8. Retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service, then for any period required to meet legal, accounting or reporting obligations. You can ask us to delete your account and associated content, subject to those obligations.
9. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your data safe and to respond quickly if something goes wrong.
10. Your rights
You can request access to the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it. To make a request, or if you have a privacy concern, contact us at [email protected]. 11. Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences and understand how the product is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though some features may not work without them.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be communicated through the service or by email.
